В статье рассматриваются библейские тексты, связанные с пророчествами о будущем восстановлении династии Давида, бытовавшими в еврейской традиции эпохи Вавилонского плена. Предполагается, что эта тема отражается не только в библейских текстах, прямо или косвенно говорящих о будущем восстановлении династии, но и в двух библейских повествованиях, рассказывающих о других исторических лицах. Так, история царя Манассии, приведенная в книге Хроник, могла быть составлена по модели, первоначально применявшейся к последним иудейским царям, Иехонии и Седекии. Аналогичным образом сон царя Навуходоносора, описанный в четвертой главе книги Даниила, может основываться на пророческой притче, рассказывавшей о судьбе династии Давида.
