Малоизвестная страница в истории египтологии: русские эмигранты в иностранных экспедициях в Египте (В. В. Стрекаловский, А. В. Флоров и Н. Мельников)

Статья посвящена работе и судьбам нескольких эмигрантов из России, которые внесли заметный вклад в публикацию знаковых древнеегипетских памятников из Саккары, Гизы и Луксора. Бывший царский офицер В. В. Стрекаловский был одним из основных участников эпиграфического проекта в часовне визиря Мерирука, издание материалов из которой заложило новые стандарты публикации рельефов Древнего царства. Инженер А. В. Флоров проработал 9 лет у подножия пирамид Гизы, отвечая за фиксацию архитектуры в экспедиции Гарвардского университета и бостонского Музея изобразительных искусств; со временем он стал самым опытным иллюстратором в составе эпиграфического проекта Чикагского университета в Луксоре. Его коллега Н. Мельников на протяжении 6 лет был иллюстратором в Гизе. Появление белоэмигрантов в составе иностранных экспедиций в Египте – следствие не только политических событий на пространствах бывшей Российской империи, но и усложнения самой методики полевых исследований в Нильской долине в первой половине XX в., увеличившего спрос на квалифицированные технические кадры в археологии. Их вклад в изучение древнеегипетской цивилизации не должен быть забыт современными отечественными специалистами.
