Аргираспиды: несколько аспектов социальной и военной истории державы Селевкидов

Статья посвящена аргираспидам – воинам, экипированным серебряными щитами в армии Селевкидов. Такие щиты впервые появляются у македонской пешей гвардии (гипаспистов) в конце правления Александра. На материале эпохи диадохов видно, что серебряные щиты означали связь с эпохой Александра, обладание высокими воинскими качествами и участие в восточных кампаниях. В таком виде символ был унаследован Селевкидами, пропаганда которых подчеркивала их владычество над Азией. Хотя первое упоминание об использовании серебряных щитов в армии Селевкидов относится ко времени правления Антиоха III, нет оснований считать, что он был первым, кто использовал этот символ.
