Strategos’ «Leave» in Roman Egypt According to the Documents of Apollonios’ Archive

Krylova Tatyana V.

The question treated in the article is whether a strategos (head of local administration) in Roman Egypt had the right to take a «leave» of absence during his service. The letters from Apollonios’ archive show that he was allowed to be absent temporarily from his place of service, but in emergency he could be denied that right.
