Города юго-востока римской Британии: империализм, традиции и особенности урбанизации

Статья посвящена проблеме урбанизации юго-востока римской Британии. В центре внимания находятся крупные города региона: Лондиний, Камулодун, Веруламий, Каллева, Новиомаг, Вента бельгов и Дуроверн. Несмотря на значительные сходства в развитии каждый из рассматриваемых городских центров представляет собой особенный вариант римско-британского урбанизма, специфика которого определялась несколькими группами факторов. Ключевые факторы можно условно обозначить как римский (деятельность провинциальной администрации, активность выходцев с континента), бриттский (воля и возможность местных элит включаться в процесс урбанизации, стремление бриттов, живущих в городах, сохранить свои идентичности) и географический (расположение поселения, его связь с системами коммуникаций, с доримскими центрами). В каждом конкретном случае римско-британского урбанизма влияние этих факторов оказывалось разным, что предопределяло специфику развития и судьбу поселения.
