«Мертвые или живые»: об одной формуле в правовых документах из Эмара

В статье рассматривается выражение «мертвый или живой», которым в правовых текстах из Эмара (XIII–начало XII в. до н.э.) характеризуются рабы, в прошлом сво-бодные лица, утерявшие свободу в результате продажи или добровольного поступления в рабство. Исследован исторический контекст и содержание этих документов, особое внимание уделено орфографии формулы «мертвый или живой» и ее трактовкам, предложенным в научной литературе. В заключение приведены переводы всех текстов из Эмара, содержащих формулу «мертвый или живой».
