Latin Inscription from Azerbaijan: Problems and History of Interpretation

Smyshlyayev Aleksandr L.

The article is devoted to the history of the interpretation of Latin inscription from Azerbaijan (AE 1951, 263). In the authоr’s opinion, it is to a considerable extent the history of mistakes and misconceptions related to the wrong localisation of the inscription, which led to the unreasonable idea about it being a testimony of Roman military presence in Caucasian Albania.
