The Prophecy of the Three Cornelii

Dymskaya Daria D.

The paper deals with the prediction that three Cornelii were to rule Rome. The author argues that such a prophecy never existed and was a mere invention of P. Cornelius Lentulus Sura (who claimed to be the third Cornelius after Cinna and Sulla) intended to impress the Allobroges’ envoys and to persuade them to cooperate.
