Тем свидетельствам источников о Солоне, которые датируются V веком до н.э. (за исключением «солоновских» экскурсов у Геродота), уделяется в антиковедении мало внимания (гораздо более популярно изучение «солоновской традиции» в IV в. до н.э.). Причина ясна – очень малое количество таких свидетельств, особенно если говорить о прямых упоминаниях афинского поэта-законодателя, в силу чего неизбежным становится привлечение косвенного (т.е. в каком-то смысле даже как бы и не существующего) источникового материала. Почему нет ни слова о Солоне у Фукидида и его учителя Антифонта – притом что они заведомо не могли не знать о деятельности человека, сыгравшего столь видную роль в истории их полиса? Что могли писать о Солоне софисты, активно интересовавшиеся проблемой традиционной практической мудрости? Как трактовать те свидетельства о Солоне, которые содержатся у комедиографов V в. до н.э.? Можно ли получить какие-либо данные об интересующем нас персонаже от поэтов того же столетия, писавших трагедии или продолжавших лирическую традицию? Этим вопросам посвящена настоящая статья.
