Образ египетского царя Птолемея XII Авлета в речах Цицерона

В статье рассматриваются свидетельства о египетском царе Птолемее XII Авлете, содержащиеся в политических и судебных речах Цицерона ("Об александрийском царе", "Вторая речь об аграрном законе", "В защиту Сестия", "В защиту Целия"). Автор анализирует образ египетского монарха, рисуемый Цицероном в его ораторских выступлениях, и прослеживает изменение этого образа в зависимости от текущей политической ситуации и конкретных целей римского оратора. Особое внимание уделяется речи "В защиту Рабирия Постума". Автор делает вывод о том, что в данной речи Цицерон рисует стандартный отрицательный образ эллинистического монарха, опирающийся на существующие в сознании его слушателей стереотипы и имеющий мало общего с исторической действительностью.
