Senatus populusque Graecus: реформа политического устройства городов Пелопоннеса в 146 г. до н.э.

После завершения Ахейской войны и разрушения Коринфа консул Луций Муммий вместе с назначенной сенатом комиссией из десяти человек приступил к организации управления новыми римскими владениями в Пелопоннесе. Существенной частью новых порядков, установленных завоевателями на территории бывшего Ахейского союза, были изменения в политическом устройстве пелопоннесских городов.
Одним из них было введение имущественного ценза для занятия должностей (Paus. VII. 16. 9). Новые эпиграфические данные доказывают, что следствием распоряжений Муммия стало создание в полисах Южной Греции нового органа под названием συνέδριον (греческий эквивалент латинского senatus), который пришел на смену обычному типу городского совета (βουλή). Сведения об аналогичных мероприятиях римских властей в других провинциях Римской республики – Сицилии и Вифинии–Понте, а также некоторые прямые и косвенные эпиграфические данные позволяют предположить, что συνέδριον создавался по образцу римского сената (цензовый отбор, пожизненное членство, огромные полномочия) и должен был стать оплотом власти зажиточной элиты в городах Пелопоннеса.
