Пестум и открытие греческой архаики

В статье переосмысливается влияние храмов Пестума на археологию и философию культуры XVIII в. В частности, автор анализирует, каким образом И. И. Винкельман рассматривал то, что считал «древнейшими памятниками архитектуры за пределами Египта». Винкельман признавал некоторое сходство между искусством и архитектурой архаической Греции и Египта. Однако идею о зависимости греческой культуры от более ранних египетских образцов он принять не мог. Чтобы разрешить эту проблему, Винкельман использовал построения, объясняющие параллели между искусством Греции и Египта как результат процессов естественного развития форм искусства и архитектуры – от примитивных к более совершенным. С тех пор археология так и следует этой парадигме: например, в исследованиях ранней греческой колонизации, которые тяготеют к применению примитивистских моделей, приуменьшая значение культурных контактов греков с финикийцами.
