A Special-Purpose Room on Göbekly-depe

The article is devoted to the central complex of Göbekly-depe, a Parthian time fortress (Margiana, Merv oasis). The complex was the residence of a king’s official (commandant of the fortress) and also included warehouses and homes of service staff. One of the complex’s rooms deserves particular attention. It appears that the room was sealed in a special way. Some features of the room as well as an incense-burner (thymiaterium) found there allow us to assume that the room was intended for storing cult objects.
