The article deals with the poetics of dreams in the «Martyrdom of Montanus, Lucius and Flavianus» (second half of the 3rd century AD). The author considers depicting dreams as a special literary device and tries to determine its place in the composition and its functions, as well as the means used by the hagiographer to describe the dreams of martyrs.
