The article gives an account of the research conducted by the expedition of the Institute of Archaeology (Russian Academy of Sciences) in north-eastern Syria. The main object of exca- vation is Tell Hazna I. The most important material was yielded by the layers of the Ubayd (the late Vth - early IVth mill. ВС) and Uruk (the 2nd half of the IVth mill. ВС) cultures. Of special interest are the temples dated back to these two periods.
