The author shares her observations about the symbolism of some scenes in private tombs of the Old Kingdom. She argues with A.O. Bolshakov's views on the two languages of cul-ture expressed in his articles published in the VDI, as well as with his other ideas concerning the tomb scenes interpreted as realistic ones.
