Greeks at Phasis and the Ransoming of Shipwrecked Sailors (FGrHist. II. 218. 18)

Hind J.G.F.

A brief extract from a series of studies of city-constitutions (politeiai), compiled by a Herakleides, is to be found in Jacoby’s collection of fragments of otherwise lost Greek historical writers. The Herakleides in question may have been one surnamed Lembos, a native of Kallatis on the Rumanian coast of the Black Sea (Mangalia) rather than the better known Herakleides Pontikos from Herakleia (Eregli) on the present day coast of Turkey.
