Artaxias I and the Organization of the Ancient Armenian Professional Army

Analyzing the data given by Movses Khorenatsi and other sources concerning Artaxias I’s political and military activities, the author comes to the conclusion that together with administrative reforms Artaxias carried out a military reform and created a professional and well-organized army. Its organization was deliberately conceived as closely connected with territorial administration.
