The Elamite Counterpart of the Persian Adverbial Phrase du-u-vi-i-t-a-p-r-n-m (DB I, 10)

Bogolyubov Mikhail N.

The new textual analysis of two paragraphs in the Behistun Inscription (DB 1, § 3–4) shows that the Persian adverbial phrase du-u-vi-i-t-a-p-r-n-m corresponds to Elamite šaššada karadalari, and not to šamak mar as is generally believed. Consequently, the latter corresponds in this context to Persian hacā paruviyata. This allows to propose an updated translation of the adverbial phrases in both languages.
