Роль птиц в мифе о Реме и Ромуле

На основании письменных и иконографических источников в статье рассматриваются упоминания птиц – чаще всего дятла – в мифе о Реме и Ромуле. Присутствие дятла в рассказе о близнецах является, по-видимому, избыточным. Самое раннее появление птиц в мифе имело, вероятно, авгуральное значение, которое со временем было либо забыто, либо потеряло свой смысл, а сам дятел стал птицей Марса
