Verbal Abuse and Obscenity in Ancient India

The article presents an analysis of Sanskrit legal texts about verbal insult. The author pays special attention to abusive vocabulary of Sanskrit, raising the question of what was considered offensive and indecent in Sanskrit and why obscenity appeared in Vedic literature.
